I have been busting my ass trying to "prove myself" promoting/advertising for a company for over a month now for free.. No guidelines, no tools, no support whatsoever from the so-called "employer".. I have gone above & beyond what has been required of me.. I was getting nervous though because he never wanted to talk about money.. So, a few days ago I ask him for some money just to see what he would say.. (I told him specifically, it was for gas & my phone/internet bill, mind you, so I can go do my job) & he blows me off for no other reason than the fact that he doesn't want to open his wallet.. Would I be wrong if I did a little anti-advertising & went around town telling everyone why NOT to use them? Is a brick thru his rear window overkill?

It was your own fault for not discussing rates and fees before you provided your services, you can't be mad at him when you did it for free. You should *politely* tell him that you can't work for free anymore. And don't use "anti-advertising", don't be unprofessional.

It's only going to look bad on you to other possible employers/clients if they know that you react negatively to situations like that. You never should have agreed to work for free in the first place and keep in mind you agreed to work for free to begin with. I understand you're upset but you just need to go to your boss one last time and let them know you would like to be a paid employee now and if they won't agree, move on. Maybe they'll realize you're valuable and fork over some money but if they don't you have to look for other work.

Any time you do that, you agree up front on the time period for the try-out. If you didn't, it's your own fault.

If you don't want to work for free, tell him you need to start getting paid SOMETHING. If he doesn't want to pay, don't work there anymore. You agreed to work for free initially so you can't be upset NOW that you're not getting any money. I do understand your frustration, and sympathize with you, but you're wrong.
