I am a 28 year old single mother to a perfect little 18 month old boy. For the past few years, even before I had my son, I have considered being a surrogate mother for a person or couple that cannot have children. I have a friend of the family who has had difficulty getting pregnant so I told her that I would be a surrogate. I really don't think she and her husband want kids that bad. They live a life of luxury now. So, since she does not seemed interested I decided to apply for a surrogacy program. My application was accepted and I am really stoked about it. The only thing that brings me down is that my mom thinks it is a terrible idea. She thinks my own child will get confused and that I will have to put my dating life on hold for a year. I think these are things I can work with. I can explain to my son that I am carrying the baby for another family and I really don't mind holding off on dating. I am in no rush. And it's my body. I think it would be wonderful to use my body for others. I had a perfect pregnancy and I have high hopes that a surrogacy pregnancy would go just as smooth. Plus, it pays $25,000! So, I'm not wrong to persue the surrogacy thing even though I don't have my mothers support, right?
